We’re excited to announce the relaunch of the Hanley at Home Fund, offering grants to local charities now through January 2025!
Originally launched in April 2024 in partnership with the Community Foundation for Staffordshire and Shropshire, the Hanley at Home Fund is dedicated to supporting people in our community with housing challenges. Our aim is to empower individuals with essential life skills, help them maintain their homes, and provide support for those who might not otherwise have access to safe and sustainable housing.
Our First Round of Donations
In August 2024, we made our first round of donations, awarding £2,000 each to four outstanding local charities:
- Beam North Staffs – Supporting the local community with housing advice and assistance.
- Project Indi – Helping young people transition from care into independent living.
- Reaching CIC – Providing life skills training to people living independently or managing their own homes.
- Symmetrical North Staffs – Assisting individuals with multiple disabilities to live independently.
These charities are making a real difference by addressing critical housing issues across our region—from offering practical support to those living alone, to aiding young people leaving care, and helping individuals with disabilities live more independently.
Vicki Hardie, Head of Community Engagement at Hanley Economic Building Society, said, “The Hanley at Home scheme is simply about helping people get a home. We believe more education and support are needed for individuals to own and remain in their homes. From youngsters who may understand maths but not how interest works, to people facing medical challenges, there is a significant need to assist people.
“There are numerous organisations across the county with the expertise to empower individuals, and we are excited to support them. Whether helping people learn financial management or assisting someone after a hospital discharge, the broad scope of our support ensures we can help as many people as possible.”
